TRYST exhibit synopsis - “Visions Unfold”
The theme of this collective exhibit is Visions Unfold: AAPI Arts in Focus, dedicated to showcasing AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) photographic artists.
Our collection features unique, dynamic, and groundbreaking mediums and styles, with works inspired by Asian traditions and others influenced by western culture, creating a rich blend of both or singular artistry. The exhibit explores how different cultural elements within AAPI arts converge to create innovative forms of expression, reflecting the complexity and richness of AAPI identities and experiences.
As a collective, we are united and empowered to elevate awareness of the remarkable work being produced.
Situated on the West Coast, we are ideally positioned near major Asian art centers. One of our missions is to connect with artists and art associations throughout Asia and beyond, fostering cultural exchanges and collaborative projects.
WHAT IS TRYST:
TRYST is an international art fair for artist-run-spaces and collectives as well as an international conference addressing the needs and future of global exchange for artist-run spaces, collectives, and organizations. A Torrance Art Museum (TAM) project, TRYST addresses the need for opportunities that foster artistic exchange between grass-roots artist organizations worldwide. This art fair will introduce international artists to Los Angeles, a leading center for contemporary art. Connecting artists to the art-savvy Los Angeles audience, the LA arts scene, and to one another allows unlimited networking opportunities in which artists can engage with other participants and develop further international exchanges. Talks and performances will be included in the program, as well as social events for participants. This will be the third edition of TRYST.
WHERE IS TRYST:
Torrance, California, USA - a city in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles. TRYST will once again be presented in the Del Amo Crossing office buildings located at 21535 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503.
